Welcome to Henderson.

Welcome Home.

Henderson Castle from Grand Avenue/ Monroe Street.*

There is simply no place like it. Anywhere.

Step through the leaded-glass doors of this elegant inn. And enter another world--a world of beauty, comfort and quiet refinement.

Since its construction in 1895, Henderson Castle has been one of Kalamazoo's most prominent local landmarks and is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. High atop a hill, commanding a panoramic view of the city, the Henderson Castle has served as much as a symbol as it has a building; refined, dignified, embodying old-world values of craftsmanship and appreciation for beauty.

At long last this stately and storied residence has been transformed from a closely-guarded private treasure into a warm, welcoming getaway destination, a romantic get away and bed and breakfast, as well as the ideal setting for receptions, meetings, and family gatherings. The Castle's traditional elegance has been supplemented with the latest amenities, from high-speed wireless internet to a rooftop hot tub. The result: A one-of-a-kind destination bed and breakfast designed to enthrall, delight, and welcome each guest.

Whether you're seeking a weekend getaway, the perfect setting for a wedding reception or family gathering, or an ideal site for a holiday party or company gathering, Henderson Castle offers an inimitable setting and unmatched level of service. Our innkeepers, staff, and caterers share a single common objective: To make your visit to our bed and breakfast a truly unforgettable, singular experience - one you'll want to repeat again and again.

With the trees free of foliage in the winter months, enjoy a frosted vista more than 37 miles. In warmer seasons, stroll through the three acres of carefully-manicured grounds of this bed and breakfast. Pause beside the fountain at the center of the Healing Garden, or watch the sun set from beneath the Victorian gazebo.

Whether for a few hours or a few days, we'll make our home your home. Welcome.

The original stained glass window of the Henderson Castle. Now a bed and breakfast, the Castle has hosted numerous weddings, with many brides and grooms having dramatic photos taken before this window highlighting their silhouettes.

Our Mission Statement: As Dostoyevsky wrote, "Beauty will save the world." Indeed, if Henderson Castle was merely a box on the hill, none of us would have paid much attention to its existence. But because it is so exquisite, because it is such a grand example of hard work and integrity, craftsmanship and artisanship and yes, beauty, it has attracted the attention of thousands of people since its completion more than a century ago, and since 2005, it has been transformed: the Castle has become a focal point for those who would like to be part of making their community--and therefore the world--a better place.

The mission of the Henderson Castle Bed & Breakfast, Meetings & Banquets business is to offer guests a place in which to celebrate their most important events with friends and family, as well as offer businesses an opportunity to conduct meetings in a unique and intriguing atmosphere rich in integrity and meaning. The Castle is an arts venue, a place to gather and share that which allows us to fully experience what it means to be human. Additionally, the Castle is seen as an agent for positive social change, an instrument to further the work of other organizations whose primary focus is to support others in the local, regional, national, and international communities.
