Please review the following prior to your arrival to enhance your experience at Henderson Castle and contact our Innkeeper at 269.344.1827 with any questions. We look forward to serving you!

Basic Information:

• Our mission is to preserve not only the Castle property, but the healing environment for the well-being of our guests.
• In order to insure a quiet and safe environment the Castle only allows children 14 years or older to stay overnight in the guest cottage and they are not permitted to use the spa facilities, including the rooftop hot tub. Pets are also not allowed on the Castle premises unless for documented medical reasons of the guests.
• Check in may be scheduled between 4-6pm, with exceptions arranged personally with the Innkeeper. Out of consideration for other guests, we ask that you return for the night before the doors close at 11:30pm to insure that everyone has the opportunity to enjoy a good night's rest and relaxing atmosphere in this intimate environment. Check out is 11am.
• The hot tub closes at 10:30pm, with the first entry being at 7:30pm and the last at 10pm. The hot tub may not be available in the case of inclement weather or servicing needs, and is accessible at the discretion of the Innkeeper on duty.
• The burning of candles or incense is not permitted.
• Reminder: bring your swimsuits and flip flops so you can fully enjoy the spa in the Uncommon Room.
• You’ll definitely want to bring a camera to capture some of the beauty of the Castle and remember your stay.
• Please lift suitcases over tile steps or use the porch ramp; tiles snap off when wheels catch and drag on the edges of the steps.
• For health code and safety reasons, as well as to preserve the century-old floors in this home, please abide by the following rules concerning footwear:
  • Ladies’ shoes must be at least 1-inch wide at the base of the heel (wedges and flats preferred). Shoes with narrower heels may not be worn on Castle property for safety reasons as well as the historical preservation of the home. Gentlemen: if this is a surprise, please plan appropriately for your guest of honor in this regard.
  • We ask that footwear be left at the door upon arrival whenever conditions deem it appropriate (i.e., wet, snowy, muddy, salty, etc.). For your comfort, please have slippers or soft-soled shoes available to change into before entering the Grand Foyer, or you may use a complimentary pair we offer.
  • When walking around the Castle, if not wearing shoes, slippers or flip flops must be worn at all times.
• The Castle has been dedicated as a Center for the Community and is a cultural arts venue; many public and private events occur throughout the month. Overnight guests may be registered to stay at the same time an event is scheduled. During these activities, every effort is made to insure overnight guests’ privacy by reserving the second floor bedrooms and Foyer, as well as the third floor Uncommon Room (guest tv lounge and spa areas) for overnight guest use only. All visitors not staying overnight must leave the premise by 8:30 p.m. and may be asked to leave the premise at anytime at the discretion of the Henderson Castle staff--under no circumstances are rooms to be used as event space. All evening events are scheduled to end at or before 10pm. The Innkeeper will be available during these events to accommodate any overnight guest’s needs. Guests are welcome and encouraged, but not obligated, to participate in open public events (i.e., murder mystery dinners, Valentines’ dinners, etc.) during their stay if interested.

Smoking and Alcohol Policies:

• Smoking is strictly prohibited inside (including inside the Guest Cottage) or on the roof of the building; ashtrays may be used in designated areas outside.
• Guests may bring a bottle of wine or its equivalent to enjoy during their stay at the Castle.
• No coolers are allowed. Guests who violate this rule will be asked to store the balance of the alcohol in a secure place designated by the Innkeeper. Guests refusing to do so will be asked to leave and will not be issued a refund.
  Guests violating any of these policies will incur a fine equal to the cost of their room stay in addition to any damage needing repair.

B&B Cancellation Policy:

• 15 + days in advance = Full refund less $25 processing fee OR an Overnight Stay Voucher for 100% of original amount.
• 8-14 days in advance = Overnight Stay Voucher for 50% of the original amount.
• 0-7 days = No refund.
• Overnight Vouchers are valid for six months from the original reservation date and may not be applied to other events/services.

Gratuities for Castle Innkeeper and Housekeeper are not included in quoted room rates. Your generosity in acknowledging the services rendered during your stay by our dedicated staff is much appreciated.
